Xylitylglucoside

XYLITYLGLUCOSIDE

Xylitylglucoside is built from xylitol and glucose linked into one molecule, and it is the largest of the four sugars in the moisture complex. Size determines where it works.

Where the smaller sugars penetrate the skin, xylitylglucoside stays at the surface. There it binds water and settles as a moisture-holding layer that works immediately. At the same time it stimulates the skin's own production of aquaporins, the channels cells use to transport water between them. Better transport means moisture travels further down and distributes more evenly.

Those two effects together, immediate surface hydration and better internal water transport, are why the complex measurably increases the skin's water reserves and reduces moisture loss. The scalp becomes more elastic, less dry and less tight.
