Tara is a small tree from the Peruvian Andes, and its fruit is one of nature's richest sources of tannins. Tannins bind unusually strongly to protein, and that is the entire basis for how the extract works.

Hair is protein, and that is where tara extract comes into its own. The tannins attach directly to the hair's keratin and form a fine, continuous layer around it. That layer does two things: it makes it harder for soot and exhaust particles from city air to lodge in the hair, and it absorbs the free radicals that would otherwise attack the hair's protein structure.

At the same time the extract repairs the places where hair is already weakened by color, bleach or perming, and the tight layer around the shaft helps hold the color pigments in, so color lasts longer between treatments. The result is stronger hair with renewed shine, better equipped for everyday life in the city.
