Sunflower seed oil is one of the lightest plant oils there is, and that is precisely why it works so well in hair. Heavy oils sit on the outside and leave hair flat and greasy at the root. Sunflower oil is thin enough to penetrate the shaft itself.

The oil is rich in linoleic acid and in vitamin E, which protects both the oil itself and the hair from turning rancid and oxidizing. Inside the hair shaft the fatty acids replace the lipids lost through coloring, bleaching and heat styling, which hair cannot rebuild on its own. A strand with an intact lipid layer is more elastic, holds moisture better and draws less water vapor from the air.

It also carries the oil-soluble actives in the formula into the hair. The result is soft, well-nourished hair with controlled frizz, without becoming heavy or greasy.
