Red clover extract is obtained from the flowers of red clover and is, together with Acetyl Tetrapeptide-3, the active component of Capixyl™.
The working substance is called Biochanin A and is an isoflavone. It inhibits the enzyme 5-alpha-reductase, which converts testosterone into DHT, and DHT is the hormone that gradually makes hair follicles shrink. That shrinking is called miniaturization: the follicle becomes smaller with each cycle, hair grows out thinner and shorter, and eventually the follicle stops producing hair altogether.
The extract also calms the low-grade inflammation around the hair roots that disrupts the follicle's work. Together this means less hair loss and a healthier scalp where hair grows out stronger.
