PENTYLENE GLYCOL

Pentylene Glycol is derived from sugar cane or corn cobs and is one of the most widely used multifunctional ingredients in modern cosmetics. Multifunctional is not a marketing word here but an accurate description: it handles three jobs at once.

It dissolves plant extracts and actives that cannot be mixed into water alone, and keeps them stable in the product. It binds moisture in the skin with a light, non-sticky feel. And it inhibits the growth of bacteria and mold, which means the formula can manage with markedly less traditional preservative.
