Bamboo is the fastest growing plant in the world and can shoot up more than half a meter in a day. That takes an unusually strong structure, and bamboo achieves it with a high content of silica, the same mineral found in sand and quartz.

Silica is also one of the hair's own building materials. It is part of the bonds that hold the keratin structure together, and its content declines with age and with chemical treatment. Bamboo extract delivers silica directly to the shaft, where it strengthens the weakened zones from within.

On the outside the extract forms a fine, flexible layer that gives hold without stiffness. That combination is what makes it useful for curls: the curl keeps its shape through the day but still feels soft to the touch rather than lacquered and fragile.
