Soy protein is the plant-based protein that most closely resembles the hair's own keratin. The amino acid composition is similar, and that is why it stays in the hair rather than washing out at the first rinse.

The fragments are slightly larger than those in corn and rice protein, which gives them a different job. Where the smallest fragments go into the shaft, soy protein's molecules remain in the outermost layer, where they form a thin, continuous film. That film adds a little volume to each individual strand, which is noticeable if your hair is fine or has become thinner over the years.

The film also holds moisture in from within and protects against wear from outside. In the ends, where hair is most frayed, it gathers the split fibers together. The result is soft, supple hair with a bit more body, and it is entirely vegan.
