CETEARYL NONANOATE

Cetearyl Nonanoate is a plant-based ester, a molecule built from a fatty alcohol and a fatty acid. It was developed as an alternative to silicone, and it solves the same problem: giving hair that smooth, gliding feel without building up residue over time.

Unlike silicone, the ester is fully biodegradable and washes out with ordinary shampoo. It forms an extremely thin layer on the hair shaft that evens out rough, roughened areas of the cuticle. Light is therefore reflected evenly instead of scattered, and that is precisely what makes hair look glossy.

In practice you notice less resistance when detangling and hair that feels smooth and soft, yet still light. It does not feel greasy and does not weigh down fine hair.
