Behind the name is an oil derived from coconut and glycerin. The coconut oil has its heavy, saturated fatty acids removed, leaving only the light, liquid parts. The result is an oil that never turns rancid, does not feel greasy, and is far more stable than the raw oil.

In hair and on skin it behaves as a softening intermediary. It forms a thin, gliding layer on the surface of the hair shaft, evens out rough areas and reduces the friction that occurs when hair rubs against hair in the brush or against your pillowcase at night. Less friction means fewer breaks and less wear over time.

It also acts as a carrier for the oil-soluble actives in the formula, so they distribute evenly from root to tip. You notice it as soft hair with a light, non-greasy finish.
